Rajkot’s Saurashtra Cricket Association ground, which is the home ground for the Gujarat Lions in the Indian Premier League and that hosted number of International ODIs, has become the World’s 120th and India’s 23rd test venue.
The seating capacity of the stadium is about 28,000.
It is witnessing now the test match between host India and England.
Board of Control for Cricket president Anurag Thakur has said that the Indian cricket board is promoting the sports in small centres as well.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had earlier recognised it as a test centre.
