Arun Jaitley Passes Away
Former Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley is no more.
Modi govt’s troubleshooter died at the age of 66 years while undergoing treatment for multiple health disorders at AIIMS in New Delhi.
He was earlier admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of AIIMS on August 9 following complaints of breathlessness and restlessness.
He had undergone renal transplant on May 14 last year.
He was also suffering from a long-standing diabetic disorder.
His final rites will be performed at Nigambodh Ghat.
It was during Jaitley’s term, Goods and Services Tax(GST) and demonetization were held.
Hailing from Punjab, Jaitley did not participate in the direct election till 2014.
In 2014, Arun Jaitley has contested for Lok Sabha seat from Amritsar, but he lost in the election.
He represented as a Rajya Sabha member from Uttar Pradesh in the year 2018,
In the year 2014, he served as a Finance Minister and then held the Defence portfolio.
In 2019 election, Arun Jaitley did not participate in the election due to his ill-health.
