From today, poojas for the Khairatabad Mahaganapati in Hyderabad will begin. As per tradition, members of the Padmasali community, accompanied by women carrying “Bonalu” and traditional “Oggudolu” performances, participated in a procession to the Ganapati pavilion.
They offered a handwoven silk shawl and Gayatri (a sacred offering) to the Khairatabad deity. This year marks the 70th anniversary of the Ganesh celebrations in Khairatabad, and to commemorate the occasion, a 70-foot-tall Vinayaka idol has been prepared.
The number seven holds special significance, with the deity depicted with seven heads, seven serpents, and a total of 14 arms (seven on each side).
The Khairatabad Ganesh Utsav Committee has specially crafted the idol, which stands 28 feet wide. Devotees will offer prayers to the Mahaganapati for ten days.
The grand immersion ceremony is scheduled to take place on the 17th of this month.
The first pooja will be held at 11 AM, with Chief Minister Revanth Reddy expected to attend along with his family. At 3 PM, Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan will participate in the pooja.
