Latest news Novak Djokovic-Visa restored, Djokovic vows to compete in Australian Open-2022

On Monday, Novak Djokovic won an appeal in the Federal Circuit Court of Australia against a decision to deny him a visa, allowing him to participate in the Australian Open beginning on January 17 despite being unvaccinated against COVID-19.

The world No. 1 claimed that he travelled into Australia with a “exemption” on his visa, but was denied admission when he arrived on Wednesday.

As he issued his judgement at 6.16 a.m. GMT on Monday, Judge Anthony Kelly annulled the visa cancellation, ordered the Australian government to pay legal fees, and ordered Djokovic to be released from custody within half an hour.

Djokovic tweeted on Monday, “I’m thrilled and appreciative that the Judge reversed my visa denial.” Despite everything that has transpired, I intend to remain and participate at the Australian Open. I’m staying focused on it. I travelled here to participate in one of the most significant events we have in front of our incredible followers.
