India’s Manushi Chhillar, a 20-year-old medical student was crowned the Miss World 2017.
Manushi Chhillar is the 67th coveted title holder and she is the 6th Indian to win the title.
The first Indian woman from the Asian countries to win the title was a model and doctor Reita Faria, in 1966. She was born to a Goan parent in Mumbai, she was the first winner to qualify as a doctor.
Actress Aishwarya Rai, one of the most iconic actors of Bollywood was crowned the coveted title in 1994, while Diana Hayden, who authored a book called ‘A Beautiful Guide’ won in 1997.
Yukta Mookhey, who became a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 2004 won the title in 1999 and Priyanka Chopra, who has been winning accolades in Hollywood now was crowned Miss World title in 2000.
