A five-month-old infant with a spinal condition has become the first NHS patient in England to be given a potentially life-saving medicine that can extend life.

Arthur Morgan was recently diagnosed with spinal muscular atrophy (SMA).

At Evelina London Children’s Hospital, he got the one-of-a-kind US gene treatment Zolgensma.

With a quoted price of £1.79m per dosage, the therapy has been dubbed the most expensive medication in the world.
