No Bag Day Initiative Announced by Andhra Pradesh Education Minister Nara Lokesh
Andhra Pradesh Minister for Education Nara Lokesh has introduced a new initiative, No Bag Day, to be implemented in schools every Saturday. This decision aims to provide relief to students by allowing them a day without carrying school bags.
No Bag Day to Enhance Student Learning Experience
During a review meeting on school and intermediate education, Nara Lokesh emphasized the importance of co-curricular activities in the education system. As part of this initiative:
- Every Saturday will be designated as No Bag Day to reduce students’ burden.
- Schools will focus on interactive learning and extracurricular activities.
- The initiative aims to create a stress-free environment for students.
Digital Transformation in Education Sector
Apart from introducing No Bag Day, Nara Lokesh has directed officials to expedite the development of a single integrated application for teachers. This app will replace multiple existing applications, streamlining the teaching process.
Additionally, the minister stressed the need to link the Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry (APAAR) ID to accurately verify the number of students in schools. The integration is expected to improve transparency and efficiency in school administration.
Government Order (GO) 117 Review
Regarding the withdrawal of GO 117, Nara Lokesh stated that a comprehensive review must be conducted. He emphasized:
- Teachers and education associations should be consulted.
- A final decision will be made based on feedback from stakeholders.
Strengthening the Andhra Pradesh Education Model
During a preparatory meeting held by the Director of School Education, officials shared valuable insights and suggestions. In response, Nara Lokesh directed authorities to:
- Implement measures ensuring zero student dropouts.
- Develop a blueprint for the Andhra Pradesh Model of Education.
- Facilitate public consultation for better implementation.
