Star gymnast Dipa Karmakar has received honorary D.Litt degree from the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Agartala on Saturday.
The 24-year-old Tripura girl, who is also a recipient of Arjuna-award became the first Indian woman gymnast to qualify for the Rio Olympics in 2016.
Dipa Karmakar narrowly missed out the bronze medal in the women’s vault event last year in the Rio Olympics.
Karmakar has been preparing for the 18th Asian Games in Indonesia’s Jakarta and 21st Commonwealth Games to be held in Australia’s Gold Coast.
