Queen Elizabeth II coronation story | DW Documentary
Elizabeth II was crowned on June 2, 1953, when more than 30 million television people in Europe turned in to watch. At the time, she was only 27 years old. There were 8,251 people in attendance for the six-part coronation service at Westminster Abbey.
The simultaneous coordination of broadcasts from stations in several time zones was a triumph for European television.
