Ashwin surpasses Kapil Dev in Tests wickets-Ravichandran Ashwin news- 2022
On Sunday, Ravichandran Ashwin passed great all-rounder Kapil Dev’s 434 wickets to become India’s second best wicket-taker in Test cricket.
In his 85th match in the current first Test against Sri Lanka at IS Bindra PCA Stadium on Sunday, Ashwin broke Kapil Dev‘s record of 435 wickets.
Ashwin has now surpassed famous leg-spinner Anil Kumble’s 619 wickets in 132 Tests to become India’s second best wicket-taker. Kapil, on the other hand, had accumulated 434 Test wickets in 131 matches.
Ashwin is the third highest wicket-taker among current Test cricketers, after only the experienced England pace combination of James Anderson (640) and Stuart Broad (640). (537).
