Australia spin legend Shane Warne dies of 'suspected heart attack'; Fans and friends in shock

Legendary Australian spinner Shane Warne dies, aged 52

Shane Warne, the legendary Australian spinner, died after a suspected heart attack at the age of 52.

Shane was discovered motionless in his villa, and despite the best efforts of medical personnel, he was unable to be revived. “At this time, the family begs privacy and will share further facts in due course,” the statement said.

This is the second tragic news for Australian cricket in 24 hours, following the death of fellow great Rod Marsh earlier on Friday after suffering a massive heart attack last week.

In a tweet this morning, Warne expressed his condolences for Marsh’s death.

Warne concluded his career with 293 ODI wickets and 708 Test wickets, the highest by a leg spinner in the format. He was named one of Wisden’s Five Cricketers of the Century.
