South Popular actress Trisha Krishnan became the first film actress from South India as she was conferred the UNICEF celebrity advocate status in Chennai on 20 November.
The actress will voice the rights of children including adolescents.
She will also address issues like anemia, child marriage, child labor and child abuse, especially in Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
According to a report released by UNICEF, Trisha was an icon for the adolescents and young people.
