Renowned Telugu film actor and Hindupur MLA Nandamuri Balakrishna has been conferred with the Balakrishna Padma Bhushan honour by the President of India, Droupadi Murmu. The award was presented during the prestigious civil investiture ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi. Balakrishna attended the event in traditional Telugu attire, wearing a panchekattu, and stood out as a notable figure at the ceremony. He was accompanied by members of his family.
The Government of India announced the Balakrishna Padma Bhushan award in recognition of his distinguished contributions to Indian cinema and social service. His decades-long career in Telugu films, coupled with his role as Chairman of the Basavatarakam Indo-American Cancer Hospital, were considered in selecting him for this civilian honour.
Nandamuri Balakrishna, the son of legendary actor and former Chief Minister Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao, made his cinematic debut as a successor to his father’s legacy. With a filmography exceeding one hundred movies, he has cemented his place in the hearts of Telugu audiences. He continues to perform in mainstream and genre films alongside younger actors, bringing vitality and experience to every role.
In addition to his mass and action roles, Balakrishna has received praise for his performances in mythological, historical, and socially themed films. Over the years, he has garnered multiple recognitions including Filmfare and Nandi awards. The Balakrishna Padma Bhushan honour now adds a prestigious national accolade to his distinguished career.
