TTD Makes Special Arrangements for Devotees Amid Lunar Eclipse Closure

The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has announced that the Tirumala Sri Venkateswara Swamy temple will remain closed for nearly 12 hours on September 7 due to a lunar eclipse. In an official statement, the TTD advised devotees to take note of this change and plan their pilgrimage accordingly.

As per detailed information provided by the TTD, the lunar eclipse will commence at 9:50 PM on September 7 and conclude at 1:31 AM on September 8. In accordance with temple tradition, the temple doors will be closed six hours before the onset of the eclipse. Consequently, the temple will reopen at 3:00 AM on September 8 with the Suprabhata Seva.

Following the reopening, the TTD will perform purification rituals including temple cleansing, Punyahavachanam, Thomala Seva, Koluvu, Panchanga Shravanam, and Archana in private. Devotees will be allowed for general darshan from 6:00 AM on September 8.

Due to the eclipse, the TTD has cancelled several arjita sevas (paid services) scheduled for September 7, including the Unjal Seva, Arjita Brahmotsavam, and Sahasra Deepalankara Seva. Additionally, the distribution of annaprasadam will be temporarily suspended from 3:00 PM on the same day. Annaprasadam distribution will resume as usual from 8:30 AM on September 8.

To accommodate devotees during the temporary halt in annaprasadam services, the TTD has made alternative arrangements. Beginning the evening of September 7, approximately 30,000 packets of pulihora (tamarind rice) will be distributed. These packets will be available at food counters located at the Vaibhavotsava Mandapam, Ram Bhagicha, PAC-1, CRO, ANC, and at Srivari Seva Sadan, according to temple officials.
