Jyotiraditya Scindia Launches Sanchar Saathi App to Fight Fraud
To address the increasing menace of fraudulent calls and spam messages targeting smartphone users, the Indian government has introduced the Sanchar Saathi mobile app. Launched by Union Minister of Telecommunications Jyotiraditya Scindia on Friday, the app aims to combat scams, prevent financial fraud, and create a safer telecommunications environment.
The Sanchar Saathi app provides robust features to protect users from spam and fraud. Key functionalities include:
- Reporting Suspicious Calls and SMS: Users can directly report potential scams via the app’s call log feature.
- Checking Mobile Connections: Users can view the number of mobile connections registered under their name and report unauthorized numbers for deactivation.
Additionally, the app includes tools for safeguarding against mobile theft:
- Blocking Stolen Phones: In case of theft, users can block their mobile phones through the app.
- Verifying Device Authenticity: By entering the device’s IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) number, users can confirm its authenticity, helping track and restrict stolen or counterfeit devices.
These features address the growing concerns of smartphone users about scams that often lead to unauthorized access to bank accounts and personal data.
