Kuberaa Movie Review: A Masterclass in Greed and Redemption
Kuberaa Movie Review: Plot
Niraj Mitra (Jim Sarbh) is a ruthless business tycoon who will go to any lengths to expand his empire. When his eyes fall on oil wells, he must bribe politicians and officials with nearly a hundred crores. To facilitate this deal, he pins his hopes on Deepak (Nagarjuna), a once-honest CBI officer now serving jail time for a crime he didn’t commit.
After securing Deepak’s release, Niraj entrusts him with handling the massive bribe. Deepak, however, devises a plan to use four illiterate beggars as proxies for the transaction—one of whom is Deva (Dhanush), a beggar from Tirupati. Once the deal is done, Niraj orders their elimination. But when Deepak realizes Niraj’s true intentions, he faces a moral dilemma. Meanwhile, Deva discovers the betrayal and fights for survival, crossing paths with Sameera (Rashmika Mandanna), whose life takes a drastic turn because of him.
Kuberaa Movie Review: Analysis
Director Sekhar Kammula is known for his meticulous storytelling, and Kuberaa is no exception. Breaking away from his usual campus romances and emotional dramas, he crafts a gripping narrative around a scam, a beggar’s rise, and a corrupt officer’s redemption. The title Kuberaa (the god of wealth) cleverly ties into the story’s themes of greed and destiny.

While the film’s scale is ambitious, it occasionally feels stretched, with some scenes needing tighter editing. However, the emotional depth and strong performances keep it engaging. The contrast between Niraj’s selfishness, Deepak’s familial concerns, and Deva’s struggle for his loved ones drives the plot effectively. Rashmika’s character, Sameera, adds a fresh dynamic, enhancing the film’s emotional appeal.
The music by Devi Sri Prasad, especially tracks like Poyiraa Maa and Na Koduka, resonates deeply, while Niketh Bomireddy’s cinematography captures the story’s intensity.
Kuberaa Movie Review: Verdict
Kuberaa marks a bold departure for Sekhar Kammula, blending social commentary with high-stakes drama. Despite minor pacing issues and some illogical moments, the film delivers a powerful message: true growth isn’t about amassing wealth but uplifting those around us. With stellar performances from Dhanush, Nagarjuna, and Rashmika, Kuberaa is a compelling watch.
