NTR Insurance Scheme to Be Overhauled Under Chandrababu’s Leadership

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu conducted a review meeting today focusing on the state’s health department. Several significant proposals were approved during the session, aiming to strengthen healthcare services in the state.
Key Approvals:

Purchase of 108 Ambulances:
The Chief Minister sanctioned the purchase of 190 new "108" emergency vehicles at a cost of ₹60 crore. He also reinstated the policy of providing an additional ₹4,000 monthly allowance to 108 ambulance drivers, along with their regular salaries.

Expansion of Mahaprasthanam Services:
To assist families in transporting deceased loved ones from hospitals, CM Chandrababu approved increasing the number of Mahaprasthanam vehicles.

Reforms in NTR Insurance Scheme:
A proposal to divide the state into two units under the NTR insurance scheme was approved. Currently operated as a trust-based system, discussions were held on transitioning it into an insurance-based model.

Strengthening 104 Ambulance Services:
The Chief Minister decided to enhance 104 rural healthcare ambulance services by reintroducing lab technicians on these vehicles to conduct medical tests.

Unified Call Center for Health Services:
A unified call center will be established to manage 108, 104, and NTR insurance scheme services, simplifying access for the public.

Focus on Preventive Healthcare:

Chandrababu emphasized the importance of preventive healthcare. He instructed officials to launch a pilot project offering blood tests and basic medical diagnostics through 104 ambulances. Additionally, the government plans to provide health cards to citizens following these health checkups.
Leveraging AI in Healthcare:

The Chief Minister urged the development of strategies to integrate artificial intelligence (AI) into healthcare. He envisioned using technology to deliver medical services remotely, reducing the need for patients to visit hospitals. He stated that the government remains committed to ensuring quality healthcare for all citizens.
