Andhra Pradesh Sets Guinness World Record for Largest Parent-Teacher Meeting

Andhra Pradesh has achieved a monumental milestone by hosting the world’s largest Parent-Teacher Meeting (Mega PTM), securing a prestigious Guinness World Record. Education Minister Nara Lokesh proudly dedicated this record to the state’s dedicated teachers. According to the Guinness Book of World Records, the Mega PTM saw an astounding participation of 5.34 million parents and teachers, with a total of 15.2 million individuals, including students, alumni, school management, and School Management Committee (SMC) members, directly or indirectly involved.

A Historic Achievement on the Eve of National Education Policy Anniversary

Coinciding with the fifth anniversary of the National Education Policy on July 28, 2025, the Mega PTM’s record-breaking success underscores Andhra Pradesh’s commitment to elevating government schools to global standards. Minister Lokesh expressed immense joy, stating that this Guinness World Record is a testament to the government’s relentless efforts to enhance education quality. He lauded the teachers for their tireless dedication in making the Mega PTM a resounding success. Gratitude was extended to students, parents, alumni, public representatives, donors, and the education department for their collective contribution to this historic feat.

How the Record Was Achieved

The Guinness World Record was officially verified after a meticulous audit of data collected from the Mega PTM. The process involved:

  • Data Collection: Three photographs, one video, and participant data were gathered via the LEAP app, with independent witnesses verifying details from each participating school.
  • Audit Process: Over 40 auditors appointed by Guinness World Records analyzed data from 61,000 schools to confirm the record.
  • Certification: The official Guinness World Record certificate will be presented during a special ceremony in Amaravati in the second week of August.

This rigorous process ensured the authenticity of the record, highlighting Andhra Pradesh’s organizational prowess.

A Boost for Inclusive Education

B. Srinivas Rao, Project Director of Samagra Shiksha, emphasized that the Mega PTM aligns with the AP Model Education initiative, envisioned by Minister Nara Lokesh. This initiative aims to provide quality and equitable education to all, acting as a monumental effort akin to a “yajna” (sacred mission). The Guinness World Record serves as unparalleled encouragement for the government, education department, Samagra Shiksha, and teachers, reinforcing their commitment to fostering inclusive education.
