A 7.8-magnitude earthquake struck Turkey and Syria on February 7. Over 237 individuals died in Syria’s government-held regions as a result of the earthquake. According to AFP, the first death toll in Turkey was 76. People were still asleep when the powerful earthquake struck the country.
Over 400 persons have sustained injuries. Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the president of Turkey, expressed sorrow. “Anguished by the loss of lives & damage to property due to the earthquake in Turkey,” Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted.
