A woman, 22, drowned on May 21 in Bengaluru, Karnataka. The mother and her family were in a car when it were submerged in neck-deep water at the KR Circle subway. Five family members and the driver were saved by fire and emergency officials. The victim and the others were taken urgently to St. Martha’s Hospital. The woman, known as Bhanurekha, was pronounced dead by doctors. Siddaramaiah, the chief minister, hurried to the hospital and declared free medical care for those who had been admitted as well as a compensation of Rs. 5 lakh for the surviving family members of the deceased.
