Lucknow Super Giants Secure Rishabh Pant for Record Price
Team India’s star wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant has become the most expensive player in IPL history. Lucknow Super Giants acquired Pant for a staggering ₹27 crores, setting a new record in the league’s history.
Team India’s star wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant has made history by becoming the most expensive player in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) secured Pant for an eye-watering ₹27 crores during the IPL Mega Auction. This is the highest price ever paid for a player since the inception of the IPL in 2008.
Sunrisers Hyderabad also competed fiercely for Pant, but the intense bidding war saw them drop out midway. Ultimately, LSG clinched Pant for the record-breaking price.
Two Records Broken in a Single Day
Interestingly, two records were shattered today. Last season, Australian pacer Mitchell Starc set a record with ₹24.75 crores.
However, Shreyas Iyer broke that record by being acquired for ₹26.75 crores by Punjab Kings in today’s auction. But this record was short-lived as Pant’s ₹27 crores deal with LSG soon eclipsed it.
