PV Sindhu beats Mia Blichfeldt in Tokyo Olympic, enters quarter-finals-India in olympics PV Sindhu of India advanced to the quarterfinals of the Tokyo Olympics after beating Denmark’s Mia Blichfeldt in the women’s singles on Thursday.  In a 41-minute match, PV Sindhu beat Mia Blichfeldt 21-15 21-13.  PV Sindhu is expected to compete against Akane Yamaguchi of Japan and Kim Gaeun of Korea. On Wednesday, Sindhu beat Hong Kong’s world number 34, NY Cheung.  PV Sindhu is well-known after winning a silver medal at the 2016 Rio Olympics.  Sindhu is now India’s lone chance after Sai Praneet lost the first match of his Olympic debut. Mary Kom bows out of the Tokyo Olympics; bids farewell to Olympics- India in Olympics Mary Kom’s Olympic journey has come to an end in Tokyo.  At a women’s flyweight bout in the pre-quarterfinals, six-time world champion Mary Kom was upset by Colombia’s player.  With this, India’s hopes of winning a boxing medal have been shattered. Boxing great Mary Kom was knocked out of the Tokyo Olympics after a 3-2 defeat against Colombian Ingrit Victoria Valencia.  Mary Kom and Ingrit Valencia are both the first female boxers from their nations to win an Olympic medal.  Mary Kom was trying to win her second Olympic medal in Tokyo when she was defeated by her opponent. Tokyo Olympics: Archer Pravin Jadhav beats world No. 2 Galsan Bazarchapov-India in Olympics Pravin Jadhav, an Indian archer, is doing well in the Tokyo Olympics.  On Wednesday, he progressed to the last-32 of the men’s solo archery competition in Tokyo with a 6-0 win against World No.2 Russian Galsan Bazarchapov. Bazarchapov, competed under the ROC flag, had just two tens in nine arrows, including a seven in the first set. Jadhav, on the other hand, shot four 10s out of nine arrows, demonstrating consistency in his approach. Tokyo Olympics: Indian boxer Lovlina reaches quarterfinals of women’s welter Boxing event-India in Olympics In her maiden Olympic appearance, Lovlina Borgohain (69kg) of India advanced to the Olympic quarterfinals. She has defeated German veteran Nadine Apetz in a close last-16 stage bout in Tokyo on Tuesday.  Borgohain mostly used her left hooks to maintain the thin edge.  Both boxers were making their Games debuts, with the Indian becoming the first of her nine-member team to get to the quarterfinals.  The 23-year-old Assamese native won all three rounds on split points.  Borgohain, a bronze medallist at the Asian Championships, will face Chinese Taipei’s Nien-Chin Chen, a former world champion and seeded fourth, on July 30.
