Not a Batting Record but a Fielding Mishap for the Indian Star Virat Kohli
In the first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia in Perth, Indian star batter Virat Kohli has unfortunately set an unwanted record. Despite his batting prowess, this time it’s his fielding that has caught attention.
Indian star batter Virat Kohli has set an unwanted record during the first Test against Australia in Perth, part of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
Kohli managed to score just 5 runs off 12 balls in the first innings before being caught by Usman Khawaja off Josh Hazlewood’s bowling.
Kohli, who has been struggling for runs lately, continued his poor form on Australian soil, adding to his woes with an unexpected record.
During Australia’s batting, Kohli dropped a simple catch off a delivery from Jasprit Bumrah, letting Marnus Labuschagne off the hook.
This drop has made Kohli the player with the most dropped catches in the last five years, having missed 47 catches since 2019.
He now holds this unwanted record ahead of his teammates, with Indian captain Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul each having dropped 21 catches, and Mohammed Siraj following with 20 dropped catches.
