Virat Kohli has set a remarkable Virat Kohli T20 Record by becoming the player with the most 50-plus scores while batting first in T20 cricket. The Indian batting icon now has 61 such scores to his name, surpassing Pakistan’s Babar Azam, who also had 61 fifty-plus scores under the same condition.
This milestone was reached during the recent match against Rajasthan Royals at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, where Virat Kohli scored 70 runs off 42 deliveries. His knock included eight fours and two sixes, with an impressive strike rate of 166.67.
The updated list of most 50-plus scores while batting first in T20s now stands with Virat Kohli at the top (61), followed by Babar Azam (61), Chris Gayle (57), David Warner (55), Jos Buttler (52), and Faf du Plessis (52).
In the same match, Virat Kohli also achieved another rare Virat Kohli T20 Record by becoming the first cricketer to score 3,500 runs at a single venue in T20 cricket. He accomplished this feat at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, once again highlighting his dominance at this ground.
With this performance, he broke the previous record held by Bangladesh’s Mushfiqur Rahim, who had scored 3,373 runs at Mirpur. The other leading players in this category include James Vince (3,253 runs at Southampton), Alex Hales (3,241 at Nottingham), and Tamim Iqbal (3,238 at Mirpur).
These twin milestones further cement Kohli’s position as one of the greatest T20 batsmen in the history of the game.
