Wimbledon 2021: Ashleigh Barty defeats Karolina Pliskova to win her maiden title

The number one seed Ashleigh Barty of Australia grabbed her first Wimbledon championship on Saturday.

In the final at Centre Court, Barty defeated Czech Republic’s Karolina Pliskova 6-3, 6-7, 6-3.

It’s the first time since 2012 that a Wimbledon women’s final has gone to a third and deciding set.

Serena Williams won the women’s final in three sets against Agnieszka Radwanska in 2012.

Barty clinched the US Open in 2018 and her second Grand Slam championship with Wimbledon.
