Hyderabad Regional Passport Office Achieves Faster Passport Appointments with Improved Services

Mobile Passport Services Launched by Hyderabad Regional Passport Office

The Regional Passport Officer (RPO) of Hyderabad, Sneha Jagathi, has announced plans to further accelerate the passport issuance process in the coming days. Speaking at a press meet held on Friday, she highlighted that the Hyderabad Regional Office has achieved a significant milestone in appointment scheduling.

In 2023, obtaining an appointment took around 22 days, but due to improved coordination with the police and postal departments, the timeline has been reduced to 6-8 days in 2024.

The RPO Hyderabad jurisdiction currently operates five Passport Seva Kendras (PSKs) and 14 Post Office Passport Seva Kendras (POPSKs) across the state. Through these centers, the office processed an average of 4,200 applications daily last year.

In total, 9.02 lakh applications, including passport issuance and Police Clearance Certificates (PCC), were handled. Notably, general appointments at the Nizamabad center are now available the next working day, while POPSK services are provided within a week.

Sneha also mentioned that Warangal has the highest daily application intake, exceeding 130, followed by other centers processing about 90 applications each. Tatkal passports are issued within 1-3 working days, while regular passports are processed within 5-7 working days, excluding police verification time.

To address grievances, a special program is conducted every Thursday at the Hyderabad office. This initiative resolved issues for over 30,000 applicants last year. Additionally, more than 10,000 complaints received via email were addressed.

The RPO also launched a mobile passport service van to provide on-the-go services. Sneha expressed confidence that the office would continue its improved performance in 2024 compared to the previous year. For the convenience of residents in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, attestation and apostille services are available at the Hyderabad RPO.
