India’s battle-hardened cricketers are ready for their toughest challenge of the World Test Championship till date as they face formidable hosts New Zealand on a spicy Basin Reserve track in the series-opener beginning on Friday.

Virat Kohli’s top-ranked team, with 360 points in its kitty, is certainly the favourite on paper but the Black Caps under Kane Williamson are experts at wearing down the opposition with their patience on pitches which turn flat as the game progresses.

The last time New Zealand lost a series at home was back in March 2017 and since then have won five (10 Tests) in familiar conditions.

For New Zealand, it is time to pick up pieces after their 0-3 drubbing in Australia while the current Indian team would love to reassert that they are the best when it comes to winning in adverse conditions as they did in Australia last year.

Dream X1 predictions:

Captain: Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli did not score many runs in the 3-match ODI series and thus he would be eager to get some runs on his bat in Wellington. The Indian skipper has always come strong after a dip in his run-scoring spree.

Vice-captain: Kane Williamson

After having a disappointing series in Australia, the New Zealand skipper would look to score big at home in the 2-match series. Williamson has been Mr. reliable for his side and thus you can not miss out on picking him either as the captain or vice-captain.

Must Picks:

Ross Taylor

Taylor has been in a terrific form in the limited-overs formats series against India and he would look to make it big when he comes out to bat in his 100th Test on Friday. The Black Caps batsman will also become the first man to play 100 Tests, ODIs and T20Is in Wellington.

Mohammed Shami

Shami was the pick of the bowlers for India during the warm-up game. On a green pitch in Wellington, the Indian pacer could prove lethal and pick crucial wickets for his side.

Dream 11 Team: Mayank Agarwal, Virat Kohli (C), Kane Williamson (VC), Cheteshwar Pujara, Ross Taylor, Mohammed Shami, Jasprit Bumrah, Trent Boult, R Ashwin, Henry Nicholls, BJ Watling (WK)
