The Reserve Bank of India said today that 50% of the Rs 2,000 notes formerly in circulation have been withdrawn. The notes that have been returned have a value of Rs. 1.82 lakh crore. 85% of the notes, according to RBI governor Shaktikanta Das, have returned as bank deposits.
