Since May 26, the Purola in Uttarkashi has been entangled in a “communal web”. This is in response to two men allegedly attempting to kidnap a young Hindu girl. Although the attempted abduction was stopped, emotions were raised because one of the accused is from a minority group. Hindu organisations even staged sizable protests in response to the incident, which was dubbed “Love Jihad.”
