Rohit Sharma Breaks Chris Gayle Record for Most Sixes in World Cup History
Rohit Sharma surpassed Chris Gayle’s record for the most sixes in World Cup history, now holding the record with 50 sixes.
In the first semi-final of the ICC World Cup 2023, Rohit Sharma played against New Zealand, scoring 47 runs off 29 balls.
His score included four fours and four sixes, contributing to his record-breaking performance.
Rohit also set a new record for the most sixes in a single World Cup edition, with 27 sixes in 2023.
The previous record for most sixes in a World Cup was held by Chris Gayle with 49 sixes.
Following Rohit and Gayle on the list for most sixes in World Cup history are Glenn Maxwell (43), AB de Villiers (37), and David Warner (37).
In terms of most sixes in a single World Cup edition, Rohit is followed by Chris Gayle (26 in 2015), Eoin Morgan (22 in 2019), Glenn Maxwell (22 in 2023), and AB de Villiers (21 in 2015).
