Chandrababu Naidu Unveils Plans for Seven New Airports in Andhra Pradesh
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu announced plans to construct seven new airports across the state in locations such as Kuppam, Dagadarthi, Srikakulam, Tadepalligudem, Nagarjuna Sagar, Tuni-Annavaram, and Ongole. The announcement came after a review meeting held yesterday at his residence in Undavalli with Civil Aviation Minister Rammohan Naidu and officials from the Airports Authority of India.
Construction Plans for Srikakulam and Dagadarthi Airports
Speaking about the development, the Chief Minister revealed that a feasibility survey for the Srikakulam airport has already been completed. The airport will be constructed in two phases on 1,383 acres, and land acquisition is currently underway. For the Dagadarthi airport, which will be built on 1,379 acres, 635 acres have already been acquired.
Land Acquisition for Other Airports
The proposed airport in Nagarjuna Sagar will require 1,670 acres, while 1,123 acres have been identified for the Tadepalligudem airport. Similarly, 657 acres in Ongole and 757 acres between Tuni and Annavaram have been earmarked for airport construction.
Gannavaram Terminal to Reflect Local Culture
The Chief Minister approved the design of a new terminal building at Gannavaram airport, which will feature themes inspired by Kuchipudi dance and the iconic Amaravati Stupa. He directed officials to complete the airport expansion and terminal construction within six months.
Industrial Development Plans
In addition to airport projects, Chandrababu Naidu shared updates on industrial developments. He mentioned that Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) is setting up an oil refinery in Dagadarthi, while new industries are being planned in Anakapalli district, including a steel factory in Nakkapalli. There are also proposals to establish an airstrip at Sri City.
Aviation University and Private Jet Infrastructure
The Chief Minister expressed interest in setting up an aviation university and a training center. He emphasized the need to build infrastructure to accommodate the growing demand for private jet parking in the future.
