Sheikh Hasina placed 43rd in Forbes’ list of the 100 Most Powerful Women

Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was re-elected for a fourth term in office after her governing party, the Bangladesh Awami League, won 288 of the 300 parliamentary seats in the 2018 elections.

Hasina, Bangladesh’s longest-serving Prime Minister, is rated 43rd on Forbes magazine’s list of the world’s 100 Most Powerful Women.

“During what she expects would be her final term, Hasina intends to focus on concerns such as food security, access to education, and healthcare,” according to the magazine.

She served for a total of more than 17 years and four terms.

Philanthropist MacKenzie Scott, US Vice President Kamala Harris, and European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde are placed first, second, and third on the list, respectively.

Every year, the magazine publishes a list of the world’s 100 most powerful women.

This year’s 18th annual list includes 40 CEOs, the most since 2015, who “oversee a record $3.3 trillion in revenue,” according to the magazine.
