The popular Kannada playback singer Sushmitha took an extreme step after being harassed by her in-law and husband for dowry. According to the latest report the 26-year-old singer Sushmitha hanged herself at her mother’ house  near Nagarabavi at 5:30 am on 17th February.  The police  case has been registered at Annapoorneshwari Nagara police against Singer Sushmitha’ husband and her in-laws.

Singer Sushmitha Raje left a suicide note accusing her husband Sharath Kumar as responsible for her death and forwarded it to her brother over WhatsApp.  According to the police, Sushmitha sent text messages to her family before hanging herself in  the room. Sushmitha’ mother Meenakshi filed a case against Sarat Kumar and in-laws alleging that they harassed her daughter mentally and physically demanding dowry.

The cop still in hunt of her husband, who is absconding post Sushmitha’ suicide.

Sushmitha, an MBA graduate tied the knot to Sharat Kumar, a software engineer in a private company, in 2018. They were living in Kumar Swamy Layout but differences soon cropped up between the couple, forcing her to stay at her mother’s house.

Sushmitha had lent her voice to films such as Srisamanya and Haalu-Thuppa.

Annapurneshwari Nagar police have filed a case of dowry death and abatement of suicide against Sharat Kumar and his family. A special police team has been formed to nab them.
