The character of Jaswant Singh Gill, represented by Akshay Kumar, was crucial in rescuing the lives of miners who were stranded in a flooded coal mine in Raniganj in November 1989. In order to bring the miners to safety, this rescue effort is known as the biggest and most successful in history.
