Jean Carroll, the former president of the United States, accused him of rape in the 1990s, and was awarded over $83 million in damages. $18.3 million in compensatory damages and a massive $65 million in punitive damages are included in the jury’s ruling. In a prior trial, he was found not guilty of rape but guilty of sexual assault and slander, and a $5 million settlement was required. He promised to file an appeal, calling it a “Biden Directed Witch Hunt”. Carroll had demanded damages for the alleged rape at Bergdorf Goodman in 1996 in the amount of $12 million.
Carroll received a total of $83.3 million in damages, including $7.3 million in compensatory damages, $11 million for reputational restoration, and $65 million in punitive damages, after the jury determined that Trump’s remarks in June 2019 had hurt Carroll.
