Visakhapatnam Set for Development Boost as Modi to Launch Major Projects, Nara Lokesh States

Visakhapatnam, January 5: Andhra Pradesh Minister Nara Lokesh reviewed the arrangements ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Visakhapatnam scheduled for January 8. Speaking to the media after the review meeting, Lokesh stated that PM Modi will be visiting the city primarily to inaugurate and lay the foundation for several key development projects.

During his visit, PM Modi is expected to lay the foundation stone for a bulk drug park in Nakkapalli, a ₹70,000 crore NTPC green energy project, and key projects along the Visakhapatnam-Chennai Industrial Corridor, including one at Krishnapatnam. Additionally, the Prime Minister will inaugurate road projects completed at a cost of ₹3,900 crore.

A significant highlight of the visit will be the foundation stone laying for the Visakhapatnam Railway Zone headquarters, fulfilling a long-cherished dream of the people. Lokesh pointed out that delays during the previous government hindered progress on this project due to the lack of land allocation.

He credited the current NDA alliance government for resolving the issue by providing the necessary land, enabling the construction of the railway zone headquarters.

Lokesh also mentioned that PM Modi will inaugurate several other railway development projects during his visit. He emphasized that this is the Prime Minister’s first visit to Visakhapatnam after the NDA’s victory in the last elections, and he assured that a grand welcome would be organized for the occasion.

The minister took the opportunity to criticize the previous YSRCP government, labeling it as a “fake administration” that failed to generate employment for the youth of Uttarandhra. He accused the previous government of neglecting development for five years, leading to stagnation in the state.

Highlighting the achievements of the NDA coalition government, Lokesh claimed credit for bringing the prominent IT company TCS to Visakhapatnam and acquiring land for the city’s airport expansion.

He further criticized the previous government for wasting ₹1,000 crore on the Rishikonda Palace, alleging that it was done to benefit a single individual.

Lokesh accused the YSRCP government of driving away existing companies and noted that after the NDA government took charge, firms like Google and TCS started showing interest in Andhra Pradesh once again.

He also pointed out that the previous government did not issue any formal orders (GOs) related to the volunteer system and accused Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy of forcing 80% of the volunteers to resign before the elections.

The minister concluded by reiterating that the NDA government is committed to putting Andhra Pradesh back on the path of development and prosperity.
