75-Year-Old Retired IAS Officer Beaten by Conductor, Video Sparks Outrage

Jaipur: A shocking incident occurred in Jaipur, Rajasthan, where a bus conductor assaulted a 75-year-old retired IAS officer over a dispute involving ₹10. The Story Behind the Viral Video

The retired IAS officer, R.L. Meena, was traveling on a state-run RTC bus on Friday. His intended stop was at Kanota. However, the conductor, identified as Ghanshyam Sharma, failed to announce the stop. As a result, Meena missed his stop and had to disembark at the next one. When he asked how to return, the conductor instructed him to take another bus and purchase a new ticket for ₹10.

An argument ensued between the two, with retired IAS Officer Meena asserting that it was the conductor’s duty to announce each stop clearly, and because of the conductor’s negligence, he had missed his destination. Meena questioned why he should have to pay again for the conductor’s mistake.

Physical Assault on the Retired Officer

The argument escalated when the conductor, irritated by the confrontation, pushed Meena back. In response, Meena slapped the conductor. Enraged, the conductor retaliated violently by hitting Meena on the back and kicking him repeatedly. The incident caused an uproar among passengers, one of whom recorded the entire episode and uploaded it to social media.

Action Taken

As the video went viral, senior officials took immediate action by suspending the conductor. A police case has been registered against the conductor, and an investigation is underway.
