Samsung Galaxy S23 Series Receives Android 14-Based One UI 6 Beta Update in Certain Areas: Report

Samsung’s latest software update, known as Android 14-based One UI 6 beta, is now available for users of the Galaxy S23 series in specific regions. This news follows an accidental leak where the company prematurely announced the official launch of the Android 14-based One UI 6.0 beta program, which was later retracted. The initial announcement mentioned that this program would be exclusively for the Galaxy S23 series, encompassing the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ultra models.

According to a report by Sammobile, the Android 14-based One UI 6.0 beta program is currently accessible for Galaxy S23 users in Germany, Korea, and the United States. In these regions, users who have a local SIM card installed in their devices can participate in the program through the Samsung Members app, as stated in the report.

To join the beta program, users need to tap on the One UI beta banner within the app. Subsequently, they should select the enroll button, allowing them to download the beta update via the phone’s Settings > Software Update menu, as explained in the report. It is anticipated that the initial beta version might contain certain bugs, so those interested in upgrading their Galaxy S23 series phones to the Android 14-based UI are advised to back up their data. The report also predicts that users in the UK, India, China, and Poland might gain access to the beta program next.

Earlier this year, in May, Google introduced Android 14 during its 2023 I/O event. Since then, developers have been diligently working on adapting their software to this operating system. In February of the same year, Samsung unveiled its Galaxy S23 series. Although the One UI 6.0 beta is currently limited to users of the flagship Galaxy S23 model, it is expected to become available for other eligible Samsung smartphone users in due course.

It’s important to note that the starting price for the base Galaxy S23 model in India is Rs. 74,999 for the 8GB + 128GB variant. Meanwhile, the Galaxy S23+ and Galaxy S23 Ultra models are priced starting at Rs. 94,999 and Rs. 1,24,999, respectively, for their respective 8GB + 256GB and 12GB + 256GB variants.
