Big Boost for Team India: Star Bowler Mohammed Shami Set for Return!

NCA Clears Mohammed Shami’s Fitness, Selectors Eye His Comeback

As the announcement of the Indian squad for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 draws near, Team India has received a major boost. Reports suggest that star pacer Mohammed Shami, who had been sidelined due to injury, is likely to make a return to international cricket soon.

According to Cricbuzz, selectors are preparing to include Shami in the upcoming ODI series against England, followed by the Champions Trophy, provided he proves his fitness.

The National Cricket Academy (NCA) medical team in Bengaluru has reportedly cleared Shami’s fitness. This development has paved the way for his potential comeback to international cricket. However, Shami is unlikely to be part of the T20 series against England.

After undergoing surgery for an ankle injury, he has been representing Bengal in domestic cricket and recently featured in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, where he performed reasonably well.

Shami last played international cricket during the 2023 ODI World Cup. Following an ankle injury during the tournament, he went to London for surgery and focused on regaining full fitness.

Although there were expectations that he would be selected for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, he was ultimately left out due to incomplete recovery.

The upcoming series between India and England includes five T20 matches and three ODIs. The T20 series will commence on January 22, while the ODIs will be played on February 6, 9, and 12.
