Tendulkar cheers from the stands as Virat Kohli celebrates his historic 50th ODI century at Wankhede.

On Wednesday, November 15, during the World Cup 2023 semi-final match against New Zealand, Virat Kohli achieved a historic hundred runs in one-day international cricket (ODI). Kohli eclipsed Sachin Tendulkar’s record for the most centuries in 50-over international cricket and became the first-ever cricket player to score 50 ODI hundreds.

On November 5, his birthday, the former cricket player broke Sachin’s record of 49 hundreds at Kolkata’s Eden Gardens during a league stage match against South Africa. At Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium, he finally broke through with a spectacular century while Sachin was present.

It took Kohli 106 balls to get his century, and he leaped into the air to commemorate it. Anushka Sharma, a Bollywood veteran, and his wife were among the raucous revellers at Wankhede. Virat responded to his idol’s cheers by bowling low, and Sachin clapped as well.
